Story-telling Through Movement
Dance is a natural human state. The entire universe dances; our blood dances through our body, the waves dance on the ocean, the trees dance in the wind. Every living thing dances.
To preserve, revive, and promote Kathak as a living, evolving art form in Pakistan by upholding its classical integrity, nurturing new generations of dancers through rigorous training, and making the art accessible beyond elite spaces. Through performance, education, and outreach, Mohsin Babar is committed to restoring the dignity of Kathak, destigmatizing the ghungroo as the dancer's instrument, and ensuring that this rich storytelling tradition continues to inspire, educate, and belong to all.
At Mohsin Babar Productions, we believe that art must belong to everyone. Kathak, once a storytelling tradition rooted in the people, cannot survive if confined to elite spaces. Our philosophy is grounded in inclusion—opening our doors through scholarships to students who would otherwise never access classical training, and taking our performances beyond urban centres into small towns and rural communities where art is rarely experienced in its classical form. We are committed to nurturing talent wherever it exists and sharing Kathak with audiences wherever they are, because an art form does not live by being preserved in isolation, but by being practiced, seen, and shared widely.

We tell stories through movement. From ballet-style dance theatre to short thematic dance films, our work explores the human experience—devotion, identity, and transformation. Rooted in Kathak, and drawing from Sufi, contemporary, and folk traditions, we create performances that speak to the present while carrying the depth of tradition. Alongside this, we develop community theatre that engages with urgent social themes, taking art beyond the stage and into the lives of people.
The Mohsin Babar Kathak School of Performing Arts offers structured, intensive training in Kathak grounded in classical tradition. With a strong focus on inclusion, the school provides full scholarships to talented students, creating a space where dedication—not background—defines opportunity.
