Mohsin Babar
As Pakistan’s foremost Kathakar, Mohsin’s journey began at the tender age of 11, under the mentorship of Ustad Hamid Hussain, a trailblazer in Pakistan’s Kathak scene. His pursuit of excellence led him to India, where he refined his craft under the legendary Ustaad Shado Maharaj and Ustaad Rajendra Gangani of the Jaipuri school of Kathak. With an illustrious career spanning 26 years, Mohsin has mesmerized audiences worldwide with his captivating performances. His commitment to dance education is unwavering, having mentored countless students in various dance forms. Mohsin’s greatest passion is to ensure the preservation of Kathak. He continues to work tirelessly to pass on this rich cultural heritage to future generations.
Mohsin is also a renowned choreographer and producer of dance-theatre. He has choreographed and performed productions for the National Academy of Performing Arts, the Pakistan National Council of Arts and spent over a decade as the lead dancer, costume designer and trainer at Tehrik-e-Niswan. Mohsin performs duets with his wife Ayesha Mohsin, also a Kathak dancer. He also has a group of trained and accomplished dancers for group performances.
